"All Dharmas Agree at One Point" from "The Seven Points of Mind Training"

dharma talk by Todd Anderson

$10 donation

New York Insight Meditation Center / 28 West 27th Street, 10th Floor, Buzzer 27

The Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche states that Buddhism is a Science of Mind. There are many types of meditation: mindfulness, shamatha, calm-abiding, vipashyana, insight, loving-kindness, equanimity, egolesness, emptiness, deityÉ the list goes on. Likewise for Buddhist schools: Zen, Tibetan, and so on. How could all of these different types of and approaches to meditation lead to the same basic point? How could all of these methods be seen as a ÒScience of Mind?Ó In this class, we will explore how different types of meditation serve as skillful means to work with our minds, emphasizing that there is really no fundamental difference between these seemingly different paths. We will also explore how the experiential flavor of living as a LGBTQ person can add fuel to the fire of our practice life, no matter what particular practice we may be doing.

Todd Anderson is a student of The Dzogchen Ponlop, Rinpoche and currently serves Nalandabodhi New York (www.nbnewyork.org) as Co-Director of Practice, and also assists as a study curriculum facilitator and leader of the Dharma Arts group. As a music teacher, he works with students in the NYC Public Schools as well as students of all ages in his private piano studio. Fully certified in the Orff Schulwerk approach to creativity in music and movement education, he enjoys exploring with others the creative potential of our minds. He is a published author in the field of creativity in education.
